Each year, the Ballarat Regional Healthcare Chaplaincy ministry produces resources for local church congregations to acknowledge the work of chaplaincy through Chaplaincy Sunday. Normally, it would be on the same designated Sunday for everyone, but given 2021 still seems to have a few surprises, we have opened it up to allow congregations to choose their own Sunday across either August or September 2021.
The theme for 2021 is 'When I was sick, you visited me', based on the passage from Matthew 25. It explores the power and value of pastoral support during a time of ill health.
Your congregation can dedicate part of a Sunday service (or other time convenient to you) and use the resources/links provided below.
You will find:
Stories written by people who have offered/received a pastoral visit in healthcare or aged care
A prayer to use during Prayers of the People
A message from Chaplain Coordinator Andrew (both video and printable format)
An update on the Chaplaincy ministry in 2021
You might also like to invite someone local to your congregation to speak on the theme 'When I was sick, you visited me' or the power of a pastoral visit.
So, if you're in for Chaplaincy Sunday 2021:
Choose a date for your congregation across either August or September 2021
BRHC acknowledges the contribution of the former congregation of Pleasant Street Uniting Church in the creation of this website. BRHC operates on primarily on Waddawarrung Country. We pay our respects to their elders - past, present and emerging.
